More about the challenge;

The Yorkshire Three Peaks is most likely the first three peaks walk to become a regular challenge, taking in the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order. These peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes:

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge includes:
Pen-Y-Ghent - 691 metres
Whernside - 728 metres
Ingleborough - 723 metres

Most walkers would start with Pen-y-ghent, from the village of Horton in Ribblesdale - there is the option of checking in and out at the Pen-y-ghent Cafe. Bear in mind that the traditional Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge involves returning to your starting point to fully complete the Challenge.

  1. Hi!
    Helen here, from the Three Peaks Challenge team. Just a quick note to say that we're off on our 3rd major training session of the year tomorrow morning. We'll be doing the harsh side of Whernside which is the quickest way up the beast and the route that we'll need to do on the big day. So tomorrow is about making sure we know the way and are prepared. It'll be an early start as rain is due around lunch time but sunny weather should see us to the top. The view is fantastic, being the highest of the three (just!) we'll be able to see the summits of the other two if the clouds are high enough. We'll also be able to add some more photos and maybe a story or two about our exploits!
